(Oakland) Riverside is sending four wrestlers to the state tournament next week. The Bulldogs hosted the Class 1A District 8 Tournament on Saturday and finished with three champs and a runner-up.
DJ Bramman returns to state with his 106 pound title. He notched a pin and a tech fall to make his way back to Des Moines. Kellen Oliver moves on at 120 with a pin in the finals. Another championship for the Bulldogs came at 220 with Caden Forristall. Two pins send Forristall to state for the first time in his career. At 132 Jack Branan makes state as a district runner-up.
CAM is sending two wrestlers to Des Moines. Brian South earned a championship at 160 for the Cougars. He pinned all three of his opponents and takes a 38-8 record to Wells Fargo Arena. Also moving on for CAM is 170 runner-up Owen Hoover. Hoover won his first match by fall, but then lost in double overtime in the finals.
Griswold has a state wrestling qualifier with heavyweight RJ Dishong. Dishong won his first match by fall and then lost to Treynor’s Dan Gregory in the finals.
