(Oakland) Riverside gets a rematch with Audubon on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs boys led by three points in the final seconds only to see Audubon get a free-throw, an offensive rebound, and a 3-pointer to sneak away with a win. Riverside will be looking to salvage a season split. “The big thing is staying locked in defensively. We go through moments when we lose a guy or maybe we double team when we shouldn’t.” Coach Nick Kroon says, “We have to rebound. We aren’t a huge team either in strength or height, so we have to check out well and do a lot of those things well to keep them from 2nd chance opportunities.”
Riverside has lost 11 games, five of those have been by less than ten points. Coach Kroon says it’s typically one bad quarter that makes the difference. “I’m proud of the resilience and really excited if we can get the offense and defense to match up at the same time for a full game.”
Grady Jeppesen recently became the 3rd player in Riverside history with 1,000 career points. “He’s hitting some short shots off the glass and hitting some 15-footers. If a hand is down he’s knocking in a 3 in your face. I think his body is feeling pretty good right now. He’s been battling back from injury. I think he’s kind of evolved with some more moves and more explosiveness. You keep seeing little bits and bounds. When he get’s 100% healthy it will be really exciting.” Jeppesen, over his last four games, has point totals of 32, 21, 30, and 22.
