Services for 89-year-old Bart Blake will be held on Tuesday, January 17, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Atlantic. Visitation with the family present will begin before the service at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held in the church fellowship hall. After the luncheon, burial with military honors by the Atlantic Color Guard will be held in the Atlantic Cemetery.
Bartlett Lee was born June 9, 1933, to Bruce and Violet (Spies) Blake on a farm near Norway Center, Cass County, Iowa. He graduated from Atlantic High School in 1952. He was married to Janice Pieken on December 26, 1953. During the Korean War Bart served in the United States Army. He began farming in 1955, south of Atlantic. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing and traveling, especially their trips to Florida in the winter.
He is survived by daughter, Debbie (Dave) Hibbert; sons, Randy (Chris) Blake, Roger (Gerri) Blake, and Tom (Beth) Blake; grandchildren, Matt (Heather) Hibbert, Kim (Jason) Mottert, Zach Hibbert, Ashley (Joel) Otte, Bria (Nate) Schechinger, Bennett (Kirstin) Blake, Courtney (Matt) Brewer, Amanda (Tiffany) Majeski-Blake, Alisha (Tyler) Wagner, Katie (Sam) Bateman, Nathan (Melinda) Blake and Amber Blake; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Diane) Blake; sister, Linda (Jaques) Pibarot; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Janice; parents; and great-grandson, Becker Blake.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the United Church of Christ in Atlantic.
