(Council Bluffs) Lewis Central rallied from a second-quarter deficit and defeated Atlantic 49-34 in a Hawkeye Ten Conference girls’ basketball game on Friday night at Lewis Central.
Lucy Scott scored 16 points, two points above her season average. The junior knocked down four three-point shots to lead the Titans. Brooke Larsen followed with nine points, Kylie Brown, eight, Elise Thramer, seven, Anna Strohmeier, five, and Gracie Hays pitched in two points.
Atlantic broke out to an early 15-9 lead in the first quarter. The Trojans scored on three long-range buckets led by Maddie Richter’s two three-point makes. Maddie Huddleson sank the other.
Lewis Central turned the table in the second quarter on a 13- run and outscored the Trojans 21-6. Thramer and Brown scored six –points each during the run, and Lucy Scott added a long ball to the cause. The Titans led 30-20 at the break.
The Trojans played even in the third frame but were held to just four fourth-quarter points, and the Titans iced the game 49-34.
Paytn Harter led the Trojans with 11, Maddie Richter with 8, Aubrey Guyer with 6, Maddie Huddleson with 3, Jada Jensen, Keira Olson, and Zoey Kirchhoff with 2.
The loss ends the Trojans’ four-game winning streak and falls to 5-3. Lewis Central goes to 5-2.
Atlantic hosts Nodaway Valley at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon. Lewis Central plays Urbandale at 3:00 p.m. at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs.
