(Greenfield) Nodaway Valley/O-M scored the final eight points of the 1st quarter and the first 17 points of the 2nd quarter to take control in a 68-28 win on Thursday over Martensdale-St. Marys.
The home squad led 23-8 after the opening frame. Avery Phillippi scored 8 quick points to start the 2nd, followed by 9 straight from Dawson Nelson. The Wolverines were able to get out in transition to score some easy baskets. Many of the open looks were set up by passes from Boston DeVault. Nelson finished with 20 points, DeVault scored 14, and Phillippi 12. Doug Berg had a big 1st quarter and ended up with 9 points.
Nodaway Valley/O-M pulled in front 46-15 by halftime and put the 35-point running clock rule into play late in the 3rd quarter. They improve to 3-2 on the season and will travel to Atlantic on Saturday. Martensdale St. Marys, now 1-6 on the year, got 8 points from Jaxson Bowlin and six each for Cooper Oberbroeckling and Cole Keller.
