(Audubon) There is a vacancy to fill on the Audubon City Council.
Councilman Nick Weihs will be moving out of city limits and announced his resignation at Monday’s meeting. City Clerk Joe Foran indicates the council will likely fill the vacancy by appointment. “It was suggested by the Mayor that the council start thinking about people and talking to people. What they most likely will do is go through the appointment idea where you appoint somebody to fill the vacancy until the next election comes up.”
One year remains on the term, ending in December 2023.
In other city council news, the council intends to have the City Attorney draft an ordinance amendment for Building/Fire codes. “It was brought to our attention by our fire chief that we probably need to take a look at clarifying our building codes and fire code and look over our process for permitting so things are a little bit more clarified.”
Foran says they want to eliminate complications and make things more clear to people.
