(Atlantic) Donations for Atlantic’s scrooge contest are being accepted until noon on November 22nd.
Lori Blum and Joyce Wieser are teaming up as candidates representing Brown’s Shoe Fit. Wieser admits it has been a fun process. “I think it’s been really a lot of fun. We’ve gotten to see a lot of people that normally we wouldn’t run into. It’s really kind of humbling to see the generosity of people in the community when they come in with cash or food items or checks. It’s just nice to see people open their hearts to others in the community.”
Brown’s Shoe Fit has a reputation for success as Store Manager Brian Ruge is a past winner. “We have some pretty big shoes to fill there. He did a really good job and raised some pretty big money. We are trying hard to at least compete well with him, if not beat him.”
Blum explains there are a number of ways to donate. “We have boxes sitting at East Side Salon, Farmhouse and Flowers, here at Brown’s Shoe Fit, and Nail and Spa Salon. We are also doing a raffle. For $20 you get five tickets and you can put them in for Oakley sunglasses, a free tux rental, or free shoes.”
Collections of food and money are donated to the Atlantic Food Pantry.
