(Council Bluffs) The driver has been identified in a Council Bluffs accident that resulted in multiple serious injuries.
20-year-old Evarsito Javier Garcia turned himself in to the Pottawattamie County Jail on Friday. He faces two counts of Serious Injury by Motor Vehicle. Garcia was operating a Dodge Challenger at 150 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone on Interstate 29 when he collided with a Chevy S-10 driven by 51-year-old Dorothy Drelicharz. Officers were dispatched to the 45.5 Mile Marker on I-29 Southbound at 12:06 a.m. on August 21st. Drelicharz was taken from the scene by life-flight. The passengers of the Challenger were transported to area hospitals by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. According to the initial report, both speed and alcohol were believed to be factors.
A court date has been set for November 10th.
