(Atlantic) Last week SHIFT ATL, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization in Atlantic, announced the purchase of the “Putt ‘Em Up” golf facility from Tim and Cindy Tieg in Atlantic.
SHIFT ATL President Jessie Shiels says the group of young women and mothers of young children did not want to see this recreational opportunity go away and purchased the facility.
Audio PlayerShiels says the non-profit board will own and operate it and will hire high school, college, or whoever is interested in employment at this facility, to run it.
Audio PlayerShiels says the profits will roll back into improvements at the miniature golf area, driving range, additional attractions, and updated turf. Shiels says the goal is for the business to be self-sustaining for SHIFT-ATL.
Audio PlayerSHIFT ATL, founded in 2019, continues to build up its broad straightforward vision for the place they have made home: to shift the direction of Atlantic’s social and economic development opportunities by leveraging partnerships and strengthening social bonds within the community. The inaugural project renovated the former Telegraph building, which is now a two-bedroom AirBnB on the upper story. Additionally, in January 2021, SHIFT ATL purchased its first “flip” house, renovated it, and sold it back to the public.
