(Des Moines) Parents of Iowans lost to fentanyl poisoning joined state and federal officials to shine a light on the deadly epidemic claiming lives in Iowa and across the country at an alarming rate.
The discussion was part of a U.S. Senate Caucus on International Narcotics Control field hearing in Des Moines convened by Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley.
Grassley says people need to be educated about the dangers of fentanyl and bring attention to legislation that will run out on December 31, which schedules fentanyl as an illegal substance.
Grassley says we need to recognize the dangers of fentanyl, the need for firmer legislation, and the need to control the border.
