(Shelby County) The Shelby County Board of Supervisors this week approved plans for letting of the HMA Pavement Widening with HMA Resurfacing on F-24 from Linden Road east 6.4 miles to Timber Road, FM Extension of Main Avenue in Defiance, and Ann Street in Irwin. The board also approved plans for letting of the HMA full depth patching on M-16 from Shelby north to F-32.
In other action, the Supervisors approved the hiring of Jay Ring as Weed Commissioner and Roadside Management Head. Ring is taking over for Bryce Schaben.
The Supervisors approved a paying $600 to take part in the Iowa Association of Counties study on pipeline installation processes and soil compaction issues.
The Supervisors approved a request from Mark Maxwell, Shelby County Election Commissioner, to hire a person for three days at election time at the minimum part time wage paid at the Courthouse ($18.91 per hour). Driving a large delivery vehicle, lifting voting equipment in and out of the vehicle are the main requirements. The total hours worked are expected to be 24-30 hours.
The Supervisors approved the appointment of Jodee D. Dixon as Assistant County Attorney until December 31st.
