(Des Moines, IA) — Probably not a real surprise, but Iowa finishes it’s water year–the period from October 1st through September 30th–in drought.
Tim Hall with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. He says September marked the sixth month in a row with below normal precipitation. Hall says the 2022 water year was the third in a row of below normal rainfall for the state.
He says unless Iowa gets a lot of rain or snow in the coming weeks, Iowa’s likely to start next spring in drought.
