Mass of Christian Burial for 79 year old Duane James Fahn, of Council Bluffs, will be held Monday, October 3 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan. Burial will be in the Harlan Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday, October 2 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Pauley Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Duane joined the National Guard in 1963 to serve his country. Upon his return to Harlan he met, dated, and married Karen Burns. Together they had Linda and Doug. Duane worked at Rural Electric Coop in Harlan, until his retirement in November of 2010.
Duane died on Thursday, September 28, 2022, at Hansen House in Council Bluffs, Iowa, attaining the age of seventy-nine years, nine months, and fifteen days. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Pat Kenkel.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Karen Fahn, children children Linda (Acy) Hartsock of Neosho, Missouri; Doug (Amy) Fahn of Gretna, Nebraska; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; siblings Yvonne (David) Krueger of Omaha, Nebraska; Edna (Ron) Odendahl of Carroll, Iowa; Joann (Larry) Mayes of Gig Harbor, Washington; Kenneth (Stacey) Fahn of Harlan, Iowa; Keith (Debra) Fahn of Carroll, Iowa; Mary (Dan) D’Arcy of Harlan, Iowa; Peggy Thrasher (John Heithoff) of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Randy (Cindy) Fahn of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Jane (Kurt) Lamb of Bellevue, Nebraska; nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
