(Sidney) A juvenile faces charges for allegedly starting a fire at the Sidney High School.
According to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, on September 21, around 1:00 p.m., deputies and Sidney Fire and Rescue responded to a fire report at Sidney High School. Officials evacuated the facility and accounted for all of the students.
The fire was located inside a restroom. The staff contained the fire, and firefighters worked to clear the smoke from the building. A short time later, classes resumed with limited building access.
As the result of an investigation, Officials determined the fire was intentionally set. Subsequently, On September 25, deputies arrested a juvenile for 1st-degree arson, a Class B felony.
The estimated damage to the school is $8,500.
