(Elk Horn) The Exira-EHK School Board has made their allowable growth request for their negative special education balance.
Superintendent Trevor Miller says the figure this year is $33,248.19. “Last year it was $41,000, so it wasn’t quite as bad this year, so that’s good. You don’t get the actual cash for it, but you get the unspent authority for it so that’s good. We manage our special education and make sure the kids all the resources they need, but make sure we don’t over spend. $33,000 is not a bad number and I know some districts have up to a million dollars or more in their negative special education balance.”
In other activity, the resignation of head baseball coach Tom Petersen was accepted.
