(Washington D.C.) Iowa Third District U.S. Congresswoman Cindy Axne is announcing her support of the Freight Rail Shipping Fair Market Act.
Last week, freight rail corporations and union rail workers reached a deal to avert a strike, which would have disrupted our supply chains.
The Iowa Congresswoman tells KSOM/KS95 News the Freight Rail Shipping Fair Market Act will provide more oversight into the rail industry and ensure that they provide more timely and predictable services to Iowa farmers and businesses.
Axne says the changes must come from the Shipping reform act.
Axne says this bill is similar but on the rail side.
Congresswoman Axne says the Freight Rail Shipping Fair Market Act provides timely oversight from the board, addresses rail service emergencies, and creates financial incentives for the railroad and its customers to get the product out quickly. She says this Freight Rail Shipping Fair Market Act will level the playing field.
Cindy Axne says she has been working on this since March, and the legislation will reform the railroad industry and help fix urgent issues in the rail industry to move freight more efficiently and tighten up shore up supply chain issues.
