(Des Moines, IA) – A woman who pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death will serve no jail time. A judge on Wednesday sentenced Tera Flipping to two years’ probation and fined her one thousand-250 dollars — the minimum sentence. On April 28th, Flipping struck and killed 14-year-old Ana Cardenas as she was walking home from school and drove away. Flipping’s father has said in past interviews that his daughter did stop, but then left after witnesses began harassing her. Cardenas’ mother accuses Flipping of lying and told TV station KCCI she has video footage of what happened.
