(Hampton, IA) — Union Pacific says the timeline for repairing the damaged bridge in the derailment Monday near Hampton is unknown. A statement from the company indicates most of the 44 cars have been removed from the track and crews have started to repair the track and bridge north of Hampton. Hazardous materials crews are back at the site today (Monday), removing asphalt that spilled from the train into Otter Creek. Union Pacific says it’s still trying to determine why the cars left the track. No one on the crew was injured.
