Defense carries Iowa to win over South Dakota State

(Iowa City) Iowa broke a 3-3 halftime tie with a pair of 2nd half safeties on Saturday an beat South Dakota State 7-3.

Iowa posted 166 yards of offense compared to South Dakota State’s 120. Spencer Petras completed 11/25 passes for 109 yards with one interception. Leshon Williams was Iowa’s leading ball carrier with 24 attempts for 72 yards. Arland Bruce IV caught five passes for 68 yards.

1-0 Iowa will host Iowa State next week.
