(Atlantic) The first-ever Smackdown after Dark Concert capped off the eighth annual Smackdown Alumni golf outing on Saturday at the Atlantic Golf and Country Club and Nishna Hills Golf Course in Atlantic.
In partnership with Atlantic High School Alumni Smackdown Committee and Atlantic Parks & Recreation, the Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the free “Smackdown After Dark” Concert at the Bandshell at Sunnyside Park.
Kevin Ferguson, Smackdown Golf outing Director, thanked everyone who helped make the day happen.
The day started with the annual “SmackDown” Golf Tournament. According to Tournament Director Kevin Ferguson, 64-teams played in the annual tournament.
The evening activities started at 5:00 p.m. with a beer garden organized by the Atlantic Fire Department and food vendors. The Classic Rock band “Oreo Meatwagon” played from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. at the Band Shell, was free admission and open to everyone of all ages, not just alumni of Atlantic.
The Atlantic Parks & Recreation Department, looking to construct a roof on the Band Shell, making the space a more usable outdoor event venue, conducted a 50/50 raffle during the evening to raise money for the upgrades to the bandshell.
