(Audubon) Audubon cross country runners will open the season August 30th at Logan-Magnolia.
Coach Pete Dammel comments on his girls roster. “Madi Burr is our sole senior. Steffi Beisswenger is a sophomore, she ran at state and had a really nice top 20 finish last year. Carli Graeve is a freshman this year.”
Stefi Beisswenger put together a huge freshman season and looks to be among the area’s premier talents. “We always talk about goals individually and she would love to get back to state and improve upon her finish. She has some mechanical skills she wants to work on and opening up her stride. That’s something coach Tony Konkler has been working with her on in track and has had some real success.”
Mason Steckler and Eli Deist are the lone boys out for cross country at Audubon. “I think both of them could have a fun season. Mason wants to get some top 20 finishes this season and get his times significantly under 20:00. Eli is another awesome kid and I’m really looking forward to seeing him open up a little bit this year.”
Coach Dammel reports morning practices have been going well and everyone seems to be in good shape.
