(Harlan) The Harlan City Council will appoint an individual to fill the Ward 4 City Council Seat. Greg Bladt, the current 4th Ward City Councilman, presented his resignation at Tuesday’s City Council meeting, effective July 31.
Harlan City Mayor Jay Christensen read Greg Bladt’s letter of resignation.
Mayor Christensen presented Bladt with the key to the city and thanked him for his six years plus of service on the City Council.
Harlan City Administration Gene Gettys says the Council can opt for a special election to fill the seat, which most communities opt not to do mainly due to the cost, or fill the position by appointment. Individuals residing in the 4th Ward and wanting to fill the seat on the Council should turn in their nomination form by August 16.
