Pamela Sue Schroder, the daughter of Robert and Paula (Stout) Traylor, was born October 27, 1972, in Council Bluffs, IA. She passed away July 16, 2022, at her home in Oakland, IA, at the age of 49 year, 8 months, and 20 days.
Pam attended school in Council Bluffs, graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School with the class of 1991. She attended college for a short time before becoming a special education paraprofessional at Wilson Junior High School. On August 20, 1994, she was united in marriage to John Schroder at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Avoca. Three children were born to this union: Hannah, Ben, and Mick. Pam received her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education and began teaching for the Tri-Center School District. She had been a teacher there for 15 years and especially loved all of her students.
Pam was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she had taught religious education classes. She had been an assistant wrestling cheerleader coach at Riverside High School and had recently worked summers at Destination Coffee in Oakland. Pam was an avid CriCut enthusiast, and enjoyed crafting, and shopping. She especially loved spending time with and taking care of her family.
Pam is preceded in death by her mother Paula Stout Traylor; her grandma “Nan” Agnes Traylor; and her uncle Steven Stout.
She is survived by her husband John Schroder of Oakland, IA; her daughter Hannah Jackson and husband Trey of La Plata, MO; her sons Ben and Mick Schroder of Oakland, IA; her father Bob Traylor of Council Bluffs, IA; her brother Robb Traylor and husband Greg Rice of Kansas City, MO; her father-in-law Bernie Schroder and wife Maureen of Hancock, IA; her sisters-in-law: Pam Paulson and husband Jim of Hancock, IA, Mary-Beth Roskens and husband Tim of Minden, IA, and Rose Schroder of Ankeny, IA; her aunt Marta Goehring; her nieces and nephews: Grace Paulson of Spencer, IA, Jack Paulson of Worthington, MN, Nora Paulson of Maryville, MO, Cody Roskens of Peoria, IL, Emily Roskens of Ames, IA, and Abbi Brown of Papillion, NE. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 1:30 PM, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Avoca. Visitation with the family will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, on Wednesday evening, from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM. A private family interment will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Oakland. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements.
