(Kansas City, MO) Three more lawsuits have been filed in last week’s fatal Amtrak train derailment. The suits were filed late last week on behalf of four passengers from Kansas and for two train crew members. A third suit was filed on behalf of an Iowa woman who suffered life-altering injuries. Lawyers say the crossing where the train slammed into a dump truck was dangerous and had been neglected. Four people were killed and dozens more were injured when Amtrak’s Southwest Chief 4 headed for Chicago hit the truck. Gates and lights were recommended for the crossing more than a year ago but hadn’t been put into place.
