(Corning) The boiler and HVAC project at Southwest Valley’s Activities Center in Corning is on hold until this fall. Schools Superintendent Chris Fenster says the labor bid came in significantly higher than expected, so the project is on hold until this November.
Fenster says the district purchased the new boilers and planned to install HVAC in the gymnasium, until the only labor bid came back at $675,000.
Another topic on the agenda was student fees, and the school board voted to keep everything the same.
The school board also approved a 28E agreement with Wood River Energy, a cooperative agreement with other school districts based on a formula from a district’s five or 12-month natural gas usage, and applied to the current rate plus 25 percent for the insurance piece.
