(Atlantic) Atlantic Schools Superintendent Steve Barber says the Hawkeye 10 Conference Board of Control has been discussing using online ticket orders and increasing ticket prices. Barber made these comments during Wednesday’s School Board meeting.
“Throughout these discussions, I have been clear with the High School Administration I would not support 100-percent online purchasing,” said Barber. “The Board of Control for the conference voted to offer online ticketing for Hawkeye Ten competition and also have a Point of Sale option.”
Barber says by not defining a point of sale; schools have some flexibility with their options. “In Atlantic, we would still provide a cash option as our Point of Sale,” said Barber. “They also voted to raise the ticket price from five to six dollars, and Middle School events to four and three.”
Barber says prices remained the same for many years, many school districts have seen attendance go down, and Official fees increase annually.
Steve Barber said per the Governors School Safety Announcement last week; that he’s signed up to get a threat assessment completed by Homeland Security. Barber plans to continue to work in this area, including reviewing the Emergency Operation Plan and ensuring staff is aware and trained on active shooter procedures.
Mr. Barber also touched on open teaching positions. Those jobs include; a third-grade classroom teacher at Washington Elementary. Title I teacher at Schuler Elementary. ESL teacher (new position), Middle School/High School Librarian/Digital Citizenship teacher, two High School Language Arts Teachers, and a High School Math Teacher.
