(Guthrie Center) The ACGC baseball team will be on the road on Tuesday to face Exira-EHK. We’ll have the game on KSOM with pregame coverage around 7:15 p.m. WesternIowaToday.com will provide a live video stream of the contest.
The Chargers have been led offensively by seniors Miles Kading and Reid Rumelhart. Kading is hitting .446 with five doubles and 15 RBI. Rumelhart has a .407 average with four home runs and 15 RBI. Coach Taylor Morris says, “The biggest thing is they are looking to find the pitches that they can drive right away instead of getting themselves out with a pitcher’s pitch right away. That’s what has allowed them to have the success at the plate that they’ve been having this year.”
The pitching staff has a 3.50 ERA with a deep staff of Miles Kading, Reid Rumelhart, Tegan Slaybaugh, Lance Bunde, Andrew Mahaffey, and Brock Littler. “That’s been a pleasant surprise for us. We knew a lot of these guys had that capability to go out and put up zero’s. We don’t have strikeout pitchers. We have to be playing good defense behind them and we’ve made strides there. Our guys, it’s nice having 5-6 guys we can throw out in big situations.”
ACGC coach Taylor Morris says Exira-EHK is better than their record shows. “They’ve played CAM in a close game and they’ve played Woodbine in a close game.” Morris says, “They are always a solid team. They are well coached. Our guys are eager to play them.”
First pitch is set for around 7:30 Tuesday night on 96.5 FM KSOM with live video HERE.
