(Des Moines, IA) There has been plenty of rain in Iowa recently yet the drought situation persists in the state. The new drought monitor map released Thursday shows about 72 percent of Iowa is drought-free. K-C-C-I/T-V reports that represent an improvement – but only by three-tenths of a percent compared to the previous week. A little more of Iowa is now rated abnormally dry. There has been some improvement since early April when 63 percent of the state was rated abnormally dry or in some level of drought.
