(Atlantic) Vanessa Strazdas wins the Republican nomination in the three-way race in the Primary election. Strazdas, the incumbent, garnered 625-votes, Robert Engler received 452 votes, and Jay Mez, 430 votes.
The Cass County Board of Supervisors appointed Strazdas on February 1, 2019, and she ran unopposed in 2020.
Strazdas says Cass County has a high caseload. Since taking office in 2019, she’s prosecuted over 2,000 cases, including 355 felonies. Strazdas campaigned on being tough on crime, especially repeat offenders, and backed that up with an effective courtroom presence. Strazas added she had sent many criminals to prison, but fair. Strazdas says she allowed many offenders to seek drug treatment to try to fix the issues causing criminal behavior.
No candidate was running for the Democratic Nomination for County Attorney.
