(Atlantic) Atlantic Head Softball Coach Terry Hinzmann tells fans arriving at tonight’s season opener to grab a program. Seven Starters are gone from the 2021 Hawkeye Ten Conference Championship team. Last year’s squad went 19-1 in conference play and 34-7 overall.
Coach Hinzmann isn’t using the phrase re-build.
Riley Wood and Malena Woodward will take over the pitching duties, Jada Jensen is back at third base, and Ava Rush will move from the outfield to shortstop. Claire Schroder is a prospect at 2nd base, Woodward is at first base when not pitching, and Ava Bruckner is catching. Claire Pellett and Maddie Huddleson, and possibly Zoey Kirchhoff will get a lot of playing time in the outfield.
Atlantic hosts Lenox in the season opener this evening at 7:30 p.m.
