(Audubon) The Audubon County Board of Supervisors took action on Tuesday on Disbursement of Valley Business Park Funds.
After weeks of discussion it came down to a 2-1 vote. Supervisor’s Chairman Doug Sorensen says $800,000 from the Valley Business Park Sale and $300,000 in Urban Renewal Funds from wind turbines will go to Audubon County Economic Development (ACED). “That will all go to ACED. $600,000 of that $1.1 Million will be disbursed according to population to the communities within the county based upon applications to spend that for economic development.”
Communities will need to submit an application to ACED to receive funds. “Put in an application to ACED and tell them what they want to spend the money for in their own community. That way ever town in the county–Audubon, Brayton, Exira, Gray, and Kimballton– will have some money to draw on for economic development.”
$500,000 will go towards current ACED projects. “Housing, Highway 71 Corridor Cleanup, Infrastructure, Tourism, all the things they are doing so well that have been benefiting our county. We’ll continue to support projects with the other $500,000.”
$450,000 will be retained for the possibility of a future land purchase.
