(Council Bluffs, IA) — Council Bluffs will receive a half-million dollars from the EPA to clean up a former factory site. The federal agency is distributing more than 254-million dollars targeted at what are called brownfield sites. Those sites are polluted by hazardous chemicals from manufacturing. Council Bluffs will use the money to clean up lead and other hazardous materials at the former Reliance Battery site. The end goal is to make the location available for redevelopment.
