(Atlantic) On Tuesday, Atlantic Schools Superintendent Steve Barber, Russell Peck, and a representative from FirstOsite will walk through the Middle School Building and create a punch list for the subcontractors. Barber says the goal is to complete the punch list by June 1.
“By June 1, teachers should be able to start moving back into the building,” said Barber.
Middle School students re-located to the Achievement Center and the High School this past school year following the July Fire that caused extensive damage to the structure’s interior.
Barber says EMC Insurance and FirstOnsite meet next week via zoom to go over the timeline and discuss all the components of the reconstruction project. “We’re going to talk about how do we get finished here, what do we have to do on our end to get the revenue from EMC Insurance for the expenditures caused by the fire,” said Barber. “I will feel a lot better after we have that conversation because I trust everyone in that process, but I also like to have everything on paper, and understand how the money works.”
Barber says parts of the secured entrance elevator will arrive the week of May 23, and the new furniture is scheduled to arrive on June 20.
Barber says the Middle School Teachers can start boxing books, and they will have additional non-contract time to move materials back to their rooms at the Middle School.
