
(Denison) Lewis Central and Carroll advanced to the Class 3A District Golf Tournament in Spencer on Monday. The Titans and the Tigers finished first and second at the Sectional Golf Tournament at Denison on Wednesday. The Titans shot 338, and Carroll finished with a team score of 342.
Atlantic finished third with a team score of 344. Tristan Hayes carded an 81 and finished fourth individually, and will advance to the district tournament on Monday in Spencer as an individual. The Trojans other scores; Garrett McLaren, 85, Lane Nelson, 88, Cruz Weaver, 92, Tate Niklasen, 94, and Roth Den Beste, 95.
“We needed more strokes today, we came up a little short, but happy for Tristan Hayes,” said Atlantic Head Coach Ed Den Beste. “He started on a tough hole with a bogey but then came back with a birdie and kept it going.
“Garrett McLaren started well but had a few holes that got him, carded a 42-43. Lane Nelson went 44, 44. Cruz Weaver improved from the Conference Tournament but needed to score in the eighties. Tate and Roth had a few holes that got them, we’’’ for them to improve next season.”
