(Atlantic) The Atlantic City Council on Wednesday approved the preliminary plat for the Redwood Subdivision.
The Planning and Zoning Commission met on April 12 and held a public hearing on the preliminary plat for the proposed subdivision. The commission stated the proposed project met all requirements of a preliminary property. The subdivision is for residential development, creating nine new lots for single-family homes.
The City Council also passed the first reading amending the zoning ordinance changing the Redwood Subdivision property from R-4 multiple family, to R-2 low-density single-family and changing the official zoning map to reflect the change.
The City Council also passed the first reading of an ordinance amending the zoning ordinance changing 705 West 8th Street from R-3 (high-density single-family) to C-1 (Highway Commercial). The Planning and Zoning Commission acknowledged the rezoning proposal conforms to the text of the comprehensive plan. The application passed all three tests to qualify as a legally valid spot zoning.
Atlantic City Administrator John Lund says the neighborhood supports the rezoning.
