(Creston) The Second Street Bridge project over the East Nishnabotna River on the west edge of the Atlantic starts at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday, April 21) and continues until 6:00 p.m. on June 16.
The project requires the closing of Highway 83 between Iowa 173 and Highway 6. The detour around the work zone is Glacier Road, Echo Road, 620th/Olive Street, US 6, and Iowa 83. A 12-foot lane width restriction will be in effect. Permitted oversize loads are prohibited.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and know that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones.
