(Creston) The Creston Construction Office announced another delay with the start of the construction project on 2nd Street over the East Nishnabotna River in Atlantic.
Officials say the project will start on Thursday, April 21 at 8:00 a.m. and continue until 5:00 p.m. on June 16.
The project requires the closing of Highway 83 between Iowa 173 and Highway 6. The detour around the work zone is Glacier Road, Echo Road, 620th/Olive Street, US 6, and Iowa 83. A 12-foot lane width restriction will be in effect. Permitted oversize loads are prohibited.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and know that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones.
