(Atlantic) Construction is progressing on Elite Octanes storage expansion project. The Ethanol plant located on the northwest edge of Atlantic opened in 2018 with four-million bushels of grain storage. The Company is making a significant investment and doubling its grain storage to eight million bushels.
Nick Bowdish, President and CEO of Elite Octane said they’re blessed with mild winter weather allowing for construction work in February and March and a great jump start to the two new large grain bins the Company is adding to the facility.
This facility consumed around 150,000 bushels of corn per day and began operations with four million bushels of storage; the Company is adding bins three and four to provide eight million bushels of storage.
Bowdish says the Company is making a significant investment as it plans to be a preferred destination for southwest Iowa corn farmers for years to come.
And four years later, Elite Octane is adding a significant investment to the facility.
Elite Octane started operating in June of 2018 and shipped its first 80 carloads of ethanol or 2.32 million gallons in late July of that same year. The plant receives 140-150 thousand bushels of corn per day Monday through Friday and produces 150 million gallons of ethanol per year.
The plant employs 52 people.
