(Des Moines) Iowa House District 21 Representative Tom Moore said the Iowa House passed the Rebuild Iowa Infrastructure Fund Budget.
This bill appropriates a total of $174,587,568. This is a $28,500,000 increase compared to last year’s appropriation. Moore said there were many departments that received additional funding, but two of the major appropriations is for the State Park Infrastructure and for Recreational Trails.
The second appropriation is for Iowa’s recreation trails, which previously received $1,500,000, but received an increase of $1,000,000 for FY23. The funds are used for grants statewide for recreational trails.
Highlights of some of the other appropriation increases include:
$8,000,000 for Department of Administrative Services – Major Maintenance
$4,900,000 for Department of Corrections
$5,000,000 for Economic Development Authority – Community Attraction and Tourism Grants
$12,000,000 for Economic Development Authority – Sports Tourism Fund
$4,000,000 for Department of Natural Resources – State Park Infrastructure
$2,100,000 Department of Public Safety – Firefighter Training Facility
$12,000,000 for State Fair Authority – State Fair Barns
