(Atlantic) On Saturday afternoon, emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle crash at 7th and Chestnut in Atlantic.
Assistant Police Chief Paul Wood says the accident happened at around 1:13 p.m when a black Dodge pickup traveling westbound on 7th Street with a green light struck a Red Mitsubishi northbound on Chestnut Street. The truck struck the front passenger tire of the Mitsubishi. The car spun around and came to rest facing west against the south curb. The pickup came to rest on the traveled portion of the road.
Wood said a vehicle ahead of the car turned right on red, and the car driver thought she had a green light and proceeded through the intersection, causing the collision. The impact deployed all airbags in the car. The three occupants in the vehicle suffered bumps and bruises. The male occupant in the pickup escaped injury.
