(Atlantic) Atlantic Mayor Grace Garrett administered the Oath of Office to Police Chief Devin Hogue at Wednesday’s City Council meeting. Ten and a half years ago, Devin Hogue took the Oath and became a member of the Atlantic Police Department; at the end of the day, on March 31, he took over as Atlantic Police Chief.
Atlantic Mayor Grace Garrett had this to say before administering the Oath of Office to Police Chief Devin Hogue.
Lt. Hogue joined the Atlantic Police Department in August of 2011. Before joining the APD, he worked in the Shenandoah Police Department. He attended the 13th Basic Class at Western Iowa Tech Community College, where he was certified as a law enforcement officer in November 2010. Devin Hogue is married with two children and oversees the department’s different kids programs throughout the year. He enjoys working with children, criminal investigations, and drug investigations.
Mayor Garrett also administered the Oath of Office to Assistant Police Chief Paul Wood.
Paul joined the Atlantic Police Department in 2004, before working from the Pella Police Department and attending the 187th introductory class through the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. He attended Iowa Western Tech Community College and earned an associate degree in Police Science. Wood was promoted to Lt. in 2016. He has served the roles of field training officer, sexual abuse investigator, arson investigator, Taser instructor, and radar instructor for the department.
