(Audubon) Departments will be shifting around within the Audubon County Courthouse.
A move by Public Health from the courthouse to the hospital created some extra space. “We had a good discussion. Public Health used to occupy about four rooms on the third floor. They have since moved out to the hospital which left us some space which was much needed in the courthouse and everyone wants some of it. So we were trying to figure out how to best re-allocate that space and use it to everybody’s benefit.”
Supervisor’s Chairman Doug Sorensen says the Assessor’s Office will be moving which will also impacts some other departments. “We had some real good discussion amongst all the department heads and what has kind of been decided is the Assessor’s Office will probably move to the third floor from the basement and the County Attorney will move over a couple of rooms and then the Sheriff’s Department will actually occupy some of that space that was the Assessor’s.”
Sorensen admits there are still some things to finalize before everything gets set in motion. He says the transition of Public Health to the Audubon County Memorial Hospital has been a good step. “It’s just better to have it right at the hospital. It’s been a good change. We’ve been able to take advantage of a really good administrative staff over at Guthrie County that is doing an excellent job. It’s just been all around a really good change.”
Offices within the courthouse will be cleaned up, painted, and prepared for their new occupants over the course of the next couple of months with the anticipated moves being made this summer.
