(Atlantic) The Atlantic Parks and Recreation Board received several quick updates from Director Bryant Rasmussen during their meeting Monday evening.
*Rasmussen said trees continue to come down along Bull Creek where work will begin on the erosion control. He also noted that last week they applied for a Water Infrastructure Grant and they were awarded $300,000 to go toward the project.
*Rasmussen mentioned that the Lions Club applied for a grant on behalf of the Parks and Recreation Department and they were awarded $5,000 to upgrade the Mollett Park Community Garden. He said they are going to add a couple more raised beds and four more rain barrels.
Anyone interested in renting out one of the raised beds can contact the Parks and Recreation Department.
*Rasmussen said they will be putting in a bounce-back wall at the Sunnyside Park Tennis Courts.
*And, Rasmussen said they are working with a couple of organizations to figure out the best price for some inclusive playground equipment to put in at Schildberg Recreation Area. The equipment will be some sort of musical piece and Rasmussen is hoping to order the equipment in the next week or so. The proceeds from the Lions Club pancake breakfast supported this project.
