(Le Mars, IA) — Everyone feels the pain of rapidly-rising gas prices – but not everyone feels it as deeply as an Iowa trucking firm that buys tens of thousands of gallons of diesel every week. Le Mars-based Schuster Trucking has 450 big rigs on the roads all across the U-S and Canada. Schuster’s routes are under contract and estimated the cost to deliver those products is becoming exceptionally challenging. General Manager Jeff Arens says a run to the West Coast where diesel is 6-50 a gallon can take three days. If the prices jump by 20 cents, the company has to eat the difference.
