(Grimes, IA) — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources was called in Monday after a detergent spill turned the waters of Walnut Creek red. A DNR news release says it isn’t known how much of the chemical from a Grimes car wash ended up in the creek. WHO Television reports a pond at Cutty’s Camping resort was also changing colors late Monday. State scientists say they don’t expect a fish kill or a large environmental impact. A cleanup is underway.
