(Guthrie) The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors on Thursday voted four to one to NOT approve a resolution changing the part-time status of the County Attorney to full time.
It was explained during the meeting that being part time means that the Attorney is doing a full-time job, but they are still able to work part time doing something else.
Everett Grasty said he was not in favor of changing the status because the job has been getting done. He posed the question, what is broken that’s not getting fixed?
Supervisors Chairman Mike Dickson…
Assistant County Attorney John Twillmann said this is not a good decision for the county. He said if an Attorney is designated part time they can still go out and make more money, but if they are designated full time the only way they can make more money is by coming to the Board for that salary raise. He said keeping the status as part time would attract more quality candidates.
Sheriff Marty Arganbright said has not even noticed that County Attorney Brenna Bird is part time.
After much discussion Board voted 4 to 1 to not approve the resolution changing the part-time status of County Attorney to full time. Mike Dickson voted nay.
Guthrie County Attorney Brenna Bird announced earlier this year that she is running for the GOP nomination for Attorney General challenging incumbent Democrat Tom Miller.
