(Anita) Anita Meat Processing has new ownership. Scot and Cheryl Bailey and son Jackson took over the business on Friday. Tim and Pam Miller have retired after 42-years in business.
“Six months ago, Tim Miller casually asked my husband Scot if he would like to buy a locker, and he initially said no,” said Cheryl Bailey. “Scot came home and told me about it, and I said wait a minute, our son Jackson likes to cut meat; maybe this is something he would like to do. So we went through the process, and we got everything finalized on Thursday of last week.”
The Miller Family started the meat market on Main Street in 1925 and operated the business without refrigeration until 1938, when the Miller Family moved the facility across the street, now the site of the Anita City Hall. After a fire, Tim Miller’s parents, Rex and Jane, rebuilt the facility at its current location.
“The Miller’s are fantastic people, and I learned a lot about the meat business in a short seven weeks,” said Bailey. “Tim and Pam worked very hard and deserved retirement. The entire community is thankful they’ve been here.”
