(Audubon) Aleah Hermansen reached 1,500 career points and Jaci Christensen secured her 900th career rebound for Audubon on Thursday night. The Wheelers move on in the regional tournament with a 71-26 win over Riverside.
Audubon scored the first 14 points of the game and didn’t allow a Riverside field goal until their was 1:05 left in the first quarter. The home squad led as large as 21-1 in the opening frame and held a 42-12 halftime advantage.
Aleah Hermansen posted 25 points. The Dordt commit knocked in five 3-pointers and went 6/6 at the free-throw line. Jaci Christensen added 24 points and 12 rebounds. Audrey Jensen and Sienna Albertsen each hit three shots beyond the arc to score nine apiece.
Riverside’s best stretch of the game came early in the 3rd quarter. The Lady Dawgs put together an 8-0 run at one point to get within 45-22. That was as close as it would be the rest of the night. Riverside ends their year at 7-15. The Wheelers responded with a 9-2 advantage at the end of the third and extended the lead back to 30 points.
Audubon scored the first 15 points of the 4th quarter to get the running clock rule into effect. The Wheelers improve to 15-8 on the season and will host 13-9 Ankeny Christian Academy on Tuesday.
