(Griswold) It’s the rubber match between Griswold and Heartland Christian in boys basketball on Friday. We’ll have the Class 1A, District 15 preliminary round game for you on KSOM.
Griswold won the first matchup at home in overtime 53-46 on December 3rd. Heartland Christian won the more recent game in the MAC Shootout 56-44. Tiger coach Matt Spunaugle say, “I expect a pretty good game. We split with them.” He adds, “They have three athletes that really stand out. We have to take care of the ball and take care of those athletes.” Coach Spunaugle is referring to Colton Brennan, Matt Stile, and Anthony Khol who all average in double figures.
Griswold downed Essex in their last outing by a score of 63-41. “We rebounded the ball well. I’ve been really stressing the importance of getting offensive rebounds and getting second chance scoring opportunities. The boys did a really good job. Our turnovers have really gone down. They are really looking to move the ball a little bit more and looking for the easier pass and not forcing shots.”
A date with Class 1A top five ranked AHSTW is the prize for the winner of this one. The top seeded Vikings await the winner in a district quarterfinal game on Monday.
