(Oskaloosa, IA) — School board members in Oskaloosa have adopted a new course curriculum that’s drawn some controversy over whether it meets the definition of so-called critical race theory. According to KCCI TV, ‘Wit and Wisdom’ includes lessons on numerous aspects of American history, including segregation and racism. Several Oskaloosa teachers spoke in favor of the course, saying it helps create deep knowledge and connect them to real events that happened in history. Governor Kim Reynolds signed a bill into law last year making it illegal to teach critical race theory in Iowa schools.
